Done with first round of midterms...

The title says it all... I'm done with my first round of midterms!!!

So, let me start to recollect happenings worth mentioned from Monday til Sunday...
Monday: Anthro midterm... not too bad... in the evening, attended a talk by Al Gore, former Vice President. He gave a pretty good speech, and his jokes were wonderful, and his knowledge...far better than the current president, let's put it that way.
Half way through his speech, I had to leave because I had to attend another meeting (Michigan Journal of Economics meeting).

On the way to the meeting, I took several snapshots of the yellow and red maple leaves... Don't you think it's beautiful?

Not bad?! I think so too...

This is another one...

Anyway, after the meeting, a pretty short 30 minutes meeting, I walked back to my room. On the way back, as the lecture given by Al Gore was on the way, I stopped by to see if it was still on, and to my suprise, it was still going on. Luckily, I kept my ticket, and I went back and continued listening to him. And it went on for another good 30 minutes. Overall, he talked for about 2 hrs.

After the talk, Quang and I went to Cozi for dinner. Great food.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Nothing much, except spent time studying for my Stats exam on Thursday.

Thursday: The exam was much straightforward that I'd expected. Hopefully, I didn't commit any silly mistakes. Anthro exam results were out too. I did alright. Today is my bro, Gary's 24th and my fren, Safiyyah's 20th birthday. Did celebrated Safiyyah's birthday at 'Kubu Malaysia' aka Conger, Baits II on North Campus.

Friday: Morning lecture was alright. John Edward was there at the Diag, but I'm too occupied to go and meet him. :-) Went to CVS(R) Pharmacy to get some drugs and all, and also a Scream mask for the Halloween party. Had a haircut at Aveda(R) in the afternoon. In the early evening, went up to North Campus, AGAIN, for meeting up with the 'pengarah' of the Malaysian Students Department, Chicago branch. Had some good food, and spent time chatting and all. Did had time to play 'Pepsi Challenge' with my fren. Fun!!!At night, watched some series...til late...

Saturday: Went jogging, and played some badminton in the morning. Got back and did some homework, and in the evening, watched Wolverines against Northwestern... And we slaughtered the wildcats... We won, with a comfortable margin, against a BigTen team for the very first time this season(sorry for the awkward sentence structure.) We had Kabob Palace food for dinner...I don't really like it... but, I ate quite abit because I'm heading out to party later... you need to have a full stomach to drink... So, at about 11pm, went to this fren's party... a huge one... a 12th kegger... so, had some drinks, watched people in ridiculous outfit, some rather hot, but others... let's don't spoil the mood...got back to my room about 2am, started doing laundry... oh yar, i did remember to roll back an hour(both my watch and my clock) because it's the end of daylight saving...meaning, i had an extra hour... nice... watched some series and dozed off... woke up at 3am again, time to change my laundry from the washer to the dryer...

Sunday: Woke up this morning, at 8 something, kinda early, with a bit of 'funny' feeling...(not sure because of the drinks i had last night, or because of the 5 hours sleep I had yesterday...) anyway, went down to basement to collect my laundry.... and then, started watching reality shows again...(the apprentice(R))... later, started doing UROP stuffs... need to put in many more hours because I've been doing less that required hours for the past 2 weeks because of no work and because of midterms... so, need to make up those hours... and that's about it...

Tomorrow is Halloween!!!! but, it's a weekday, so, don't really have a party... i guess...
Hell... it's Monday again...

So, i'm only 50% efficient...

so, over the weekend... i did:

1) Study (for Anthro)that's 10%
2) Study (for Stats)
3) Study (for Anthro) and Stats) that's 15%
4) Football (which can be dropped from the list, because i will definitely watch the match)that's 25%
5) Rest (it has been a really tiring week)that's 35%
6) Workout (i've been skipping my runs and all)that's 45%
7) Update my accounts (hah... thanks for all the credit card transactions, my bank has been keeping all my accounts lately)
8) UROP...(i need to put in more hours to make-up for last week, and maybe next week...)
9) Watch series...(i need to take a break, and catch up with my series too, nothing much, just The Apprentice, CSI, Lost, Numb3rs, and Alias)that's 47%
10) Study...that's 50% (because stats need more time than anthro...and i've yet to start with Stats...)

So... those strikethrough-ed are things that I've done over the weekend... not too bad, considering i did spent Friday nights on unnecessary activities such as playing PS2 on a 62" tv...(my hallmates have a huge tv)... watching horror movie on Saturday night(The Shining)... which is not too bad...

the football watch, Michigan @ Iowa was amazing... we won(for the first time, a back-2-back game in this season)... well, it was a close game... and was decided in OT... but, a win is still a win... now, Michigan is ranked... 25th on AP top 25... will be playing against Northwestern this week...

so, i did about 5 items on my agenda... which is not too bad...50% efficiency... that's pretty good for a college student, i guess...

OK... this is what i need to do for my weekend...

People have been telling me that by making a list of things that u need to do, u'll tend to be more efficient in doing the things on the list...

so, let me try and i'll let u know about the result, hopefully next week...Monday, or maybe Tuesday...

So, here it goes:

THINGS that need to be DONE over the weekend...
1) Study (for Anthro)
2) Study (for Stats)
3) Study (for Anthro and Stats)
4) Football (which can be dropped from the list, because i will definitely watch the match)
5) Rest (it has been a really tiring week)
6) Workout (i've been skipping my runs and all)
7) Update my accounts (hah... thanks for all the credit card transactions, my bank has been keeping all my accounts lately)
8) UROP...(i need to put in more hours to make-up for last week, and maybe next week...)
9) Watch series...(i need to take a break, and catch up with my series too, nothing much, just The Apprentice, CSI, Lost, Numb3rs, and Alias)
10) Study...

so, i'll let u know abt it next week...

next up, my deepest condolences to PM and family...for the death of Datin Endon, the cancer Champion...

on another matter, try going to www.google.com, type in 'failure' or 'miserable failure' and click on 'I'm feeling lucky'... if it is working 'well', it should bring u to George W. Bush biography page...
just another reason why Google is the most powerful search engine around...

it's getting colder now... and the sun is rising later and setting sooner... longer nights, shorter days... Winter is looming... and the leaves are falling... pretty nice... but what lies ahead... 5-6 months of winter...

oh yar, u guys are really a quiet bunch... holla in the shoutbox please... we need to revive this 'house'...

Fall (study) break...

Fall (study) break... as the title suggested.. the study is in the parenthesis, so, the study part of the break is optional...

making plan is fun... but when making plan but not following the plan, what fun? that's what it is for my fall break... during the spring and summer holiday, i stayed back and took classes and work and had fun... but, i didn't have a holiday... so, i started planning where to go for fall break... first place that came to my mind -> the Niagara falls...

I googled for all the informations, about when the Maid of the Mist stop operating for winter and all... but because of some 'unavoidable', the plan of going there remains as a plan...

nvm... I'm young and all, so, I can always leave it for another day, rite? so, I started to plan to go to Cedar Point... just a day out... as a roller-coaster lover... I'm so excited about the trip... (fyi, CedarPoint has the most rides, and also, those fastest, longest... and also many other record breaking rides... it's a roller coaster heaven... but, it just didn't do...

so, what succeeds when all others fail? well... Michigan football...!!! yeah... Michigan Wolverines beat 8th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions by scoring a really-phucking-late-with-no-time-left-on-the-clock touchdown... it was a wonderful Saturday football game... it was full of dramatic plays(and that's an understatement)... it was full and overflowed with OMFG plays...

the game started rather slow... with us leading by a field goal at the half time, 0- 3... but, both teams found their extra gears after the break... with Michigan scoring a touchdown at third quarter... then, Penn State came back with 18 straight points to turn the table with a score of 18 - 10, the wolverines match the nittany lions 8 points play, squared the score at 18-18 and then, scored another field goal to take the lead by 18 - 21... next, the nittany lions somehow managed to muster up another touchdown and conversion to take the lead at 25 - 21... with 0.53 time left on the clock... (53 seconds)...

but, because WE BELIEVE!!!, the fans cheered on, with a wonderful kick-off return by Steve Breaston(he played amazingly in this game)... followed by a couple of firstdowns... and with 1 second left, 4th down, the very last snap of the game, Chad Henne, connected with SUPER Mario Manningham for a touch down with no time on the clock... winning the game with a score of 25 - 27. WE WON!!! The touchdown sent the crowd into a wild celebration!!!

although I was under-dressed (t-shirt and jeans) for the weather, (it was 10 Celcius, with strong wind), i kept jumping and cheering(til I lost my voice)... and to celebrate... we went to Main St. for dinner... With no particular restaurant in mind, we walked from restaurant to ask for a table for five (Putt, Quang, Chia Chye, Lili and I), and we went decided to go to the store with the shortest waiting time...(well, that makes perfect sense, since it was almost 8.15pm), first, we went into Gratzi, a classy, pricey and nice restaurant(the waiting line: 1hr), next, The Chop House, a pricier restaurant (the waiting line: 1hr 30 minutes), so, next, Shalimar, a less pricey Indian restaurant, (the waiting line: 30 minutes)... so, we put down our name, and went to a cafe(Chocolate Cafe) to have a drink for the 30 minutes wait... the food was really good...

We went back to Putt's place to play the console for a while...

then, later that night, 3 of us (Quang, Chia Chye and I) went to catch a movie... The Aristocrats.. it's a hilarious documentary about an old joke "The Aristocrats" which goes:

A family walks into a talent agency. It's a father, mother, son, daughter and dog. The father says to the talent agent, "We have a really amazing act. You should represent us."

The agent says, "Sorry, I don't represent family acts. They're a little too cute."

The mother says, "Sir, if you just see our act, we know you would want to represent us."

The agent says, "OK. OK. I'll take a look."

... (insert as many and as sick actions u can think of here...make it long such that nobody can top u),

and sign off with

"

For the longest time, the agent just sits in silence. Finally, he manages, "That's a hell of an act. What do you call it?"

And the father says, "The Aristocrats!"

Some of the glossary u should know. link

Anyway... that's Saturday (first day of the fall break)...

Sunday... did nothing much, except had lunch, did nothing, had dinner, did nothing much again, except meeting up with some seniors(Junior Year) and some juniors(Freshies...)... it's really pathetic that only 4 of the so-many Sophomores turned up for the thing... shame on u guys...

had supper (Pizza House delivery)

Today, Monday... did some reading, well it's a study break after all...

What did I break in my study break?
Broke my body clock... have been sleeping at 5am and waking up at 12pm) for the past 3 days...

Broke my plan of visiting places... being laid back and enjoying time wasting was really good...

Broke my daily routine...(work, classes and all)

that's all for now...
oh yar... Happy Birthday to Vivian...

My felicity corner 幸福の部落

My felicity corner 幸福の部落

this blog makes me really hungry... home is where the heart is... and wat's the next closest place to heart??

i would say stomach... with only-available-@-home-authentic-cuisine filling my stomach... it really makes me a happy boy... but, the closest to Malaysian food available around is either self cooked nasi lemak or some other dishes available at a restaurant not so far from campus...

ooh... those wonderful dishes... and delicious looking pics really makes me hungry again...

Bill Gates @ Michigan

Hey... so, I took off early from my breakfast shift at the dining hall... (many thanks to Melissa and Lois) so that I can go to Rackham Auditorium for Bill Gates' talk on time... at 9.50am

the talk was wonderful... it's like a miniskirt...:P long enough to cover the important part, but short enough to be interesting...

Mr. Gates talked about the roles that softwares might play in the future... and how it is going to change our life.

And he showed us about Xbox 360,
and also a short clip of him with Napoleon Dynamite (a commercial of Microsoft(R))... anyway... And at the end, the Q & A session...
Mr Gates trying to answer a question posted.

it was a great talk...

disclaimer: these pictures are mine... DON'T steal them...

Can't think of a suitable title

well well... let me see, it's been 2 weeks (or izzit 3) since I last posted.

Anyway, wazzup? Me --> busy as usual... quiz, midterms, work, meetings, research...

football --> SAD... i'm devastated again on last Saturday... we lost (again) and the problem is that we don't really know what went wrong... we just didn't win... and that just suck...

Home game again this Sat... hopefully, we will do everything right and win the game...

IAPA meet up at Chris place... the five(Viktorina, Tina, SangWoo, Salim and I) and Cynthia, Alzeira and Lynn... we had dinner last Saturday... Chris cooked... lasagna, salad... Dinner was great... Company was even better... thanks guys...

so so so... wat's more? SEA network thingy... i'm going to several restaurants and cafes to negotiate deals with them, to get some discounts upon showing our new membership cards... not an easy task... time consuming and all...

SEA Network dinner last Sunday was great... went to Hanis place to cook nasi lemak and Curry Chicken... it turned out not too bad... although the curry was kinda overcooked... anyway, the bonding potluck went well... had really too much food... well, the food was great.

alright... will try to take photo tmr(at the Bill Gate's talk)...
that's all for now... singing off... and goodnite
