my first time...

alright... so i'm 21 years old and all... and i've been thinking about it for quite some time now... always wondering will this catch me off guard... am I prepared for it... and who will it be with and all...

dang, this is really awkward... i mean, after all, it's my first time... how am I going to say this? in the public?

ok... so, it happened in the morning... i know it's kinda unusual for this kinda thing to happen in the morning, but it did... it was Monday morning... woke up and I had nothing to do, so, I started surfing the net, and damn, I was bored and needed to do something...

so, i figured that I must do something... so, I looked at my pile of laundry... dang, so, i went to the laundry room and threw those clothes into the washers and did all that sorta thing... and went back to my room, and nothing happened... 40 minutes later, i went down to the laundry room again, this time, just to switch my clothes to the dryers.... and nothing unusual happened yet...

so, again, i went back to my room... to wait for another hour... (it takes a painful hour for the dryer to dry the clothes well)... so, i went back to my room and forgot what i did... but an hour later, i went down to collect my clothes... and that's when it happened... at about 12noon...

it caught me off guard... and dang... i can't believe my first time just happened like that... without any warning, without any sign...

...
I WAS TRAPPED IN THE FUCKING LIFT...

after collected my laundry... i went into the lift, and there, the lift went dead... i was trapped in it... i pushed the alarm button for a couple of minutes... and hmmm... nothing happened... I pushed the emergency call button... and someone answered, and I told them that what happened... where I think the lift's at (between Basement and 5th floor), but more likely to be near the basement because the lift went dead after closing the door... and I don't recall it moving much...

so, i was told to wait for some techicians to come... and abt 15 minutes later, some guys came to the rescue... and while waiting for them, I started folding my laundry...

sorry for the dramatizing of the event... but, it's still my first time... first time being trapped in a lift...

so, how many of you got owned???!!!

lol... u guys are dirty... my 'that' first time... well well well... i'll see... and i might let you know about it too, if it really happens...

what's there to hide??

Woah... that's an amazing week...

So... got back on Monday, and checked my mail... and guess what?? my state ID's here... woohoo... (reads no need to bring my passport to get drinks and all)... other than that... nothing much really..

on Tuesday... work, got my packages from Tourism Malaysia, containing Waus and many other hand crafts for the SEA Night exhibition this Saturday... on top of that... classes... got back Econ 406 midterm 2 result, not too bad...more studying for the midterm tmr...

on Wed... work, Midterm... thanks to whoever/whatever, my midterm time was shortened by twenty minutes... we were only given 60 minutes to complete the 80 minutes exam... why?

exam scheduled to start at 1.10pm...

1.10pm: the fire alarm was triggered
1.11pm: everybody left the exam hall and waited outside in the cold
1.25pm: the fire alarm was fixed and we got back into the exam hall
1.30pm: we were given the exam and was told that :" alright guys, you guys just have to write faster." wtf... that's not fair...

as there was another class who was having the same exam in a different building, the professor promised that he will adjust the score if there's difference in the mean between the two classes. WTF... that's not fair at all... with a huge class like this, the mean wouldn't be making much a difference... and scoring at mean is not what i'm aiming for, so, adjusting it accordingly would not justify the 20 minutes lost time... and I did not so good in my first midterm, and I studied much more for this midterm, and getting screwed in such a way is just effing unjust... and damn... i'm such a whiner... most probably will be getting back the paper next Thurs... so, hopefully it's better than I expect... i really need to bump up my scores in this course...

later that night... i started my foam board decoration thing for the event on Saturday... thanks to a bunch of freshies and ChiaChye, Lili and Shi Ting for their help too... and Wei Heong... really appreciate it...

Thurs... work, class and quiz, and class... the 2nd class was the worst class ever... becoz the professor was away, and the GSI was teaching... not that he was a bad teacher... but the material + his voice + his pacing around the class + his examples make a perfect recipe of putting students to sleep... even with Mountain Dew (R)... i couldn't help but to doze off every so often...

went back to my room.. and did nothing much... rested for awhile... and then, in the evening, went meeting... and got back to my room about 7pm... had grilled swiss + ham sandwiches for dinner... and was really tired... hung around doing nothing... and then, started working on the poster board again...

on Friday... work, class, only went for one, and skipped the other because it was gonna be discussing on the exam... which i don't really have questions abt... and it was the same boring GSI again...:) so, i actually only attended 20 minutes of class for the entire day... went back, did a design for the banner, but didn't really use it in the end because it was too time consuming to spray several layers of paint... at 6pm, I went to East Hall and started on decoration work...
tied up flowers, drew national flowers, painted banner... and got back to my room at about 12midnight... went to Ashleys with Quang to get some really good beer there... and food too... (i skipped dinner...) i had a beer flight... and was given another beer accidentally... so, had more beers than I anticipated... the beer flight was a sampler of 4 beers.. i ordered lager... and was given
1)Stelle Artois(R)
2) Sam Adams(R).. and 2 others which I forgot their names...
and the one given to me by accident: Edmund Fitzgerald Porter(R) was really good too...

got back at about 2am...

Saturday... D-day... woke up at about 9.30am.. brushed up and all, and got to East Hall at 10am... and started the final works on the foam board... thanks Lili, Ching Yi and Khoon Yu for their help again... and then, did more stuffs like setting up the tables, and also hanging up flags at the auditorium... and damn.. it was pretty scary to stand on the top step of the ladder... and i did it like so many times... phewwww.... also, many thanks to Putt... and last but not least, Dane for transporting my stuffs from my room to East Hall... at about noon... after that, we also managed to make quite a number of goodie bags (with brochures and all from Tourism Malaysia)... and also, hanging up the banner(more like sticking it up with a lot of tapes...) and then, we are practically done with all that at about 3pm... went back to my room to get my laptop and banners for and changed into Batik for the event... went back to East Hall at 4.30pm... set up the final banners and also sticked up some posters at the food stalls... and set up my laptop for the sweepstakes too... and we were all set... and ready for visitors...

at 5.30pm... ppl rushed the foodstalls, with Malaysian food selling so well, that it ran out so fast... that I couldn't even get a plate of Nasi Lemak... the exhibition went pretty well too... after about an hour and a half later... at about 7pm, the crowd settled down in the auditorium for the performances, and that's when I can slack off and go get food... and i bought Beef Rendang from Indonesia stall, and grab a bunch of anchovies, and fried peanuts and some sambal to make my own nasi lemak plate... had a curry puff, and another spring roll... and 1 air bandung, and 1 air longan... that's a pretty good meal... and my stomach was finally smiling, after all the torturing it had the previous 2 days...(skipping meals and all)...

it went alright and I started tearing down the booth at 9, with the help from Chia Chye and Lili... and then, I'm almost done at about 10.30pm... and thanks to Dane again, for sending my stuffs and I back to my room... went out to party at about 11.30pm... went to Zach's place, with his friends and also our buddy Mike there... and there, I played some games... dice and beer pong... and then, we hung out and kept playing and drinking til 5.00am... then, we were all sober, and proceeded to support our friends at Dance Marathon... (a charity event where dancers need to get $250 sponsors, and on top of that, stand for 30 hours)... there, we played some games... and danced for awhile... and as the day got brighter... i took a long walked home... (the thing was held at South Campus, and I stayed at Hill Area, which is about 30 minutes away...) on the long long walk back to my room, I called home, and chatted for about 20 minutes... and then, finally, got back to my room at about 7.20am... brushed up and went to bed at about 7.30am...

wtf... that's my very first all nighter of college... and I spent it partying... lol... well... i'm just that kinda person... work hard, study hard, play hard... party hard... and ______ hard too... u go figure...

woke up at about 2pm... and attended a meeting at 3pm... got back at about 4... watched college bball til 5 something... had dinner... and then, came back and watched more bball... and did some school work at til 9pm... family guy(R) is on... did everything else but studying after that... and updated my blog (still updating now)... and went to bed at about 1.45am...

lol... my crazy week...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Damn... Irish are genius... they invented such a great holiday, for the sole purpose of binge drinking and having fun... NO?? YES!!! and to top of their ingenuity of that, they have Baileys... and Guiness and Jameson's...

so, March 17th... St.- effing - awesome - Patrick's day...

My first St. Patrick's Day started not too bad... with me waking up at 6.00am... weighing whether i should head down to the lobby to get a green bagel and other stuffs, or i should just eat some Goldfish(R) and down a beer... i chosed the latter... then, took a shot of Baileys... (pardon my word, but the shot is fucking amazing, it's just sooooo good that i really couldn't find any other word to describe how good it was)... Counter = 2

went to work at 7am... as usual, it was pretty quiet, other than a rushed of Omelets and all, nothing much of a big deal... oh yar, some of the students were drunk and obnoxious enough to leave their trays on the table... it was all good...

got out at about 10.15am... and then, went back to my room, to take a cat nap, like 20 minutes.... more like an hour... woke up at about 11.30am, took a shot of Jameson's(R) and then, went out to my 12noon discussion... at that discussion, we discussed about the midterm, and i remembered almost every single answer... damn... that's not something to be proud off... but well... next, i went on to the next discussion, and learned about Stata and all... then, i'm off at 1.45pm... i went to the Union to grab my lunch, and walked back to my room... Counter = 3

meeting at 3.30pm... done with meeting at 4.15pm... went back(ran back) to my room and started another round of drinking... did some Irish Car Bombs... (2 actually)... Counter = 6

left my place at about 5.15pm... went to my buddy Mike's place... he had green beer at his place... had a couple before start playing some beer games... Counter = 8

Played dice (7-11 double)... (Counter = 10) and took a shot of Kamchatka(R) Vodka, it's really nasty... (Counter = 11), more drinking for a card game, which I forgot the name of it...(Counter = 13), and i gone at about 8-8.30pm... dozed off for awhile... came back at about 10pm... damn hungry... went to Buffalo Wild Wings (R) with Quang, and Zach and his friend for food... there, it was packed... with drunk people from all walks of life... :)...

had some wings, and then, another shot of something green (Counter = 14), and then, after the food and all, we left sober and went back to our room... back in the room, we did another Irish Car Bomb... bringing the total count of the day for me to 15.5 (Counter = 15.5)... i drank a lot of water, trying hard not to have any hungover the next day... because i was pretty sober, i watched an episode of 24... and fell asleep on my bed watching that (at about 2am)... woke up in the middle of the night at about 4am and drank another shit load of water, and woke up at 6am, and drank another half bottle of water... and did went to bathroom to release some too...

woke up all good at about 8.30am... and then, fooled around, and went to CCRB at about 10am, did 5 miles, pumped quite some irons, and then, got back to my room at about 12noon... that's my first run in quite some time... hell yeah... my legs were so numbed and i'm physically so tired that i slept from 3pm til like 5pm... woke up, and went to chill out with Joe and Dane and Tess and Quang for awhile... and 5 of us went to get dinner outside... and then, at night, i did some UROP work, and then watched a movie with Dane and Tess and Quang... Flightplan(TM)...

Sunday... it's crazy busy... i studied from like 9 til 10.45am, worked from 11am til 3pm... studied and slept til about 6pm, dinner, and review session, til 9pm... went to my fren's place to settle some stuffs and got back to my room at about 10.30pm.... and then, studied and dozed off on my bed til about 12.50am... slept at 1.02am, after checking woot(R)...

woke up at about 8am this morning, and started studying again... and then, went to my IAPA interview at about 10am... and then, got back to my room and started working on my homework... not really successful because of not need more time for those questions to sink in....
went to lecture at 1pm, and came out at about 2.30pm, and i'm here updating my blog... and it's 3.23pm now....

last weekend...(if i remembered correctly... lol)

Hey all,

sorry for the late post... but better late than never... so here it goes...

last weekend was insane... crazy... on Friday, at night, at about 11pm, I went to Mike's place to drink with him and Zach, the guy who was turning 21 a day before I did, so, we drank a bit, and played a game of beer pong, and before I left, I chugged another full can, they were leaving for the bars and I couldn't join them becoz of some rather obvious reasons, actually just one reason... but that reason was gonna be history in 24 hours...

i got back to my hall at about 1am, i thought i was alright, but apparently not because I was constantly falling to sleep on Alex's couch... well, it was a really amazing couch though... with full recliner and all... and the tv was showing Star Wars III, which I'd watched thousand over times... finally, I somehow went back to my room and drop dead at about 2+am...

and then, it's Saturday... tick tock, tick tock, tick tock... kept counting down... did some studying, and most of the time, did nothing much... just too excited about turning 21...

at about 5.30pm, Quang, Alex and I headed out to Shalimar, an Indian Restaurant for dinner, kinda like my birthday celebration dinner, Putt was already there, then, Eric, Jin Ye, Ren Jie, Keng Yang, Vivian, Mel, Chia Chye, Shi Ting came... the food was awesome, and the cake was really good too... Thanks guys... I really appreciate it...

After dinner, I went back to my room and did some studying... and at about 11pm, I headed out to Zach's place for our party... sorta... Dane and Tess, Alex, Joe, Quang and I walked there. Half way into the journey, I remembered that I forgot my passport (just in case i decided to head down to a bar for a free drink or wat) so, Quang and I kinda ran back to get it, caught up with others at the party...Mike was like the party manager and the party had started when we reached there... not really... lol.. Sarah was there... (one of my ASB pal, thanks), later, Daniel and Eddie (my hallmates showed up too), and then Jeff and Aaron too (more ASB pals)... and Zach got back from a concert @ Detroit... and then, Sam was with him... and well... the usual, beer pongs and all... cup stand(i did twice), and what else... a lot of drinking, and then, it was pretty late, where i started seeing ppl off...and my brother called at about 1am+

i practically remembered everything(i guess) before 2.30am...i remembered playing some flip cup too... it was storming at about 3am that time too... then, because some of them were smoking outside, i chilled out with them (reads I didn't smoke, don't and will never smoke), as it was raining, and i dropped my jacket when i first came, i was in a long sleeve T, and got a bit wet, and it was raining, and I was really drunk, so, i started breathing heavily (this was kinda like my way of trying to stay conscious... not sure whether it helps, but i do it all the time), and then, because of the cold, I started shivering, not sure how bad, but bad enough to get my friends to worry about me, I remembered bits and pieces of their conversations... discussing whether they should send me to the hospital or wat... then, i stood up and walked to the bathroom (not so sure was this before of after), and then, settled myself on a couch at Zach's place, and woke up the next morning...

woke up the next morning at about 11.30-45 am, there were 5 missed calls, all from home... :-P drank a cup or two more... water..., and then found all my belongings (just my glasses, watch and jacket), and then, started the long walk back to my room like 5 past noon... the weather was really nice... all sunny... then, went back to my room, re-examined myself... and *sniff sniff*, eeewww... some bad smell... saw that there's a small patch of puke on my shirt... then, looked at my jeans more carefully, and saw tiny patches of puke too, and stinks... so, threw all my clothes into the laundry basket, and took a bath, and then did my laundry... went to lunch... had a pretty hard time swallowing my food down because i felt like throwing up... couldn't do much because of the hungover, slept most of the afternoon...

woke up at 5pm... did some studying... until 6.30pm... decided that for my 21st, i must somehow go to a bar to drink... and, finally, succeeded in persuading Quang to go to a bar with me... Buffalo Wild Wings (R), where we got wings and potato skins, and i got a beer... a tall Guiness... not too bad, but, not really my stuff because I'm not a big fan of dark beer... anyway... got back at about 8pm... did a tiny bit more of reading, and then watched Family guy, and then, more reading and tv watching for the rest of the night...

that's my eventful 21st Birthday weekend...

after the crazy weekend, came my crazy week... woke up at 8.30am... not too bad, changed and all, and started heading down to the main bus station to catch a bus to the Secretary of State office to apply for a State ID... i brought all the needed documents but 1, so, i left my room at like 2 to 9am, and forgot exactly where the main bus station was and finally found my way and reached there at 9.16am, for a bus leaving at 9.18am.... pheww..... reached the office at 9.30am, not many ppl there, so, waited for like 10 minutes, and got called to the office, and then, was told that i need another piece of doc, a proof of residency doc... dang... meaning, another trip to the office... as I'm only free on Monday, and I'm not free coming Monday, I decided to do another run to my room and back because I don't want to wait any longer...

So, i took the next bus back the 10am bus, and reached the main bus station at 10.15am, and then, ran back to my room to grab my document, and ran back to the bus station at 10.47 for my 10.48am bus... even cutting closer this time... and reached the office for the 2nd time at 11am... this time, the office was packed, luckily, i was given a 'return' ticket this morning, so that i kinda cut in front of the line and be processed first... after a couple of questions and some corrections to the form, I paid 10 bucks, and took a photo, and got a slip back, and was told to wait for my ID to be mailed to me... and I'm done... pretty quick eh... and I caught the 11.30am bus back to campus, and then, reached the station at 11.45am... then, i walked to the B-school to get some documents from my prof, and then walked(again) to the nearest dining hall to get some food... finally, some food down the stomach after the long morning...

after that, went to class... and then, more class... and went back to my room, and started doing some homework, and studying... preparing for the midterm on Wed and Thurs... oh yar... at night, went to the ASB multi-site reflection thingy... where there, I saw most of my ASB pals, and filled in tons of evaluation forms and paid $2 for a lime-green t-shirt... and then got back to my room for more studying...

Tuesday... work, classes, and then, at night studying and studying... slept at about 2am

Wednesday... work, class, studying, midterm, hw, prepared for quiz, prepared for midterm... and slept at abt 2+am...

Thursday... work, class, quiz (which i screwed up), midterm (which i thought wasn't too bad)... got some stuffs for tmr... it's St. Patrick's Day tmr... and then, watched some series... and that's about it... basically, just relaxing myself...

amazing eh...

check back soon... (my thoughts and my hopes)

posted by Voon Seng at 3:07 PM 0 comments

It's so close....

hey peeps... my countdown from 100 days ago is down to 2 now... 2 days to go, and I'll be 21.... woohoo... BIG 2-1... what i'm gonna do??? lol... my RA suggested me playing scrabble in the hall to celebrate my birthday, since I've no reason not to.... FUNNY... i've more reason for not to play scrabble than him... :) let's discover the other side of me...

anyway, i'm really excited about it... and even though i know what i'm gonna, and can be summarized by one word, drunk, it's still a lot of excitement building on and i really can't wait for it... it will definitely be a crazy weekend... i was told by my friend to expect something surprising... hmm... interesting... i'll let you know if it's not too PG-rated...

1st week of class after Spring Break was not easy... not that i screwed up my body clock or sleep cycle or anything like that... but moving back to homework and lectures and upcoming midterms, from farming life... (all laid back, and do what i want, and virtually worriless life), was really a tough transition... no wonder there's always this notion where people have problems start working after college (because they took a few months off to do ___________ before committing into working life)... so, i dozed off a couple of times in the Econs lecture (more than usual, and even closed my eyes/or at least having hard time opening them in my Math lectures), but fortunately, i'm done with the week... (left with 1 class later, and another meeting, which i don't think will be productive)... so, that's about it...

my week:
Monday: no work, classes... and that's all...
Tuesday: work, classes, homework, meeting, IntraMural(IM) volleyball...
Wednesday: work, classes, UROP, Invisible Children(IC):Rough Cut viewing...(i'm making a big deal of this, because I think more people should know about it, and i'm not comfortable with that.... and spreading the news is the least I can do... I'll have another post dedicated to IC)
Thursday: work, classes, quiz, Housing Reapplication... got a sucky single room at Couzens next year...
Friday: work, quiz (another 5 minutes quiz... screw that)... and another discussion later... and i'm done...

this weekend will be crazy... and i'll elaborate more after this... gtg...

[back 90 minutes later]...
the discussion class wasn't too bad... other than it took the GSI 20 minutes to figure out that he can help us in reading the words on the screen by maximizing the browser of Stata (R)... but really, it's really really informative discussion... far more informative than other discussion sessions from him so far...

alright... back to my post...
happenings last week:
  • IntraMural Volleyball on Tuesday night!!! I played for team Actuarial... just to let u guys know how pampered we are (well, another reason why actuarial is such a rewarding career is that companies are trying to snatch us early... dang... how unfair... lol) an insurance company sponsored our registration fees... and on top of that, sponsored us t-shirts... although we were of the worst Volleyball team (in my opinion) in the league... but heck care... we don't have to worry about anything... and we had fun... there will be 2 more sessions, and probably more if we make it to the playoff...

  • Phone Interview: At first, I scheduled an interview at the time I was playing Volleyball, what was I thinking?? I've no idea... so, I negotiated (thanks for their understanding) another interview time, and because of their time constrain, and the timezone difference, and my busy schedule, guess what?? I scheduled a phone interview at 6am the next day... (Malaysian time, 7pm, my time (Eastern Standard Time) 6am... who the heck wakes up early in the morning for a phone interview??? well, u got it, the same idiot typing this post... it went well (in my opinion), and it lasted for about 45 minutes... although i got to say that cellphone is not the best option for a phone interview, but it was not too bad... at least it didn't got disconnected or anything...

  • Haircut: Guess what, i just had a haircut yesterday evening... started at about 5.25pm... ended around 6.40pm... so, after shampooing twice, cutting, rinsing and styling, and 75 minutes and $15 later, I got a really short(relatively) haircut... it's like a full hawkish look... and i love it very much... (pictures will be posted later... and i guess i'll be called being a narcissist again... (by another narcissist)... getting ready for the birthday... and also getting ready for the spring... i always believe that dressing up, or wearing what u wear reflects u... like i'm more confident when wearing bright colors... and all... (that explains all the orange shoes and orange track jacket...)
That's about it... i guess... looking forward to a crazy weekend... (with 2 midterms next week, but as many drinking nights this weekend as well... homework too... wow... i'll definitely fully utilize my weekend really well...)

My Spring Break... @ World Hunger Relief Inc., Elm Mott, Waco, TEXAS....

will post more later... i promise... i need the pics on my laptop... and i'm currently at the computer lab...

ok... i'm back... and updating with lotsa photos... dial up killer!!!

first... we set off on 25th of Feb... (saturday) morning at about 9am...
these are my stuffs...
everybody is in a really good mood... excited and all about the trip... the long road trip (20+ hours driving... no including stopping) down to Waco, Texas...
that's Sandra and Kristin... here's Aaron and Jess
and here's Sarah and Stephanie...
last but not least, Jenn (passenger seat), Beth (driver) and Jeff (the guy in the cap)...

so, 9 of them + me (the photographer...) = 10 of us set off at slightly after 9...

first stop at some rest area...had peanut butter(PB) and Jelly (J) sandwiches, some cheese, and carrots and all as lunch...on the way, i saw some migratory birds flying... tried taking a pic and this is what i caught... (try searching for lines of black dots(at the bottom part of the picture)... We stopped and rested for the night at Tulsa, OK at about 1am... and the next day, we set off at about 9-10am... and reached Dallas, TX at about 2-3pm...a city view of Dallas, Texas...
we were about half an hour away from Waco, Texas... and since the sun is setting, i took a picture of this nice view and getting ready(mentally...lol) for our arrival...

We arrived there at about 7pm and met a couple of interns (Jeanan and Wes)... where we introduced ourselves, and asked them some questions about the farm, and where to get groceries and all... and we headed out to get groceries at about 9pm... and then, got back, played some games, and met another intern(Aaron)... and then, called it a night...

The next day... 27 Feb (Monday), we started working on the farm... Jeff, Aaron and I (all the guys on the trip) woke up at 6.10am to brush up and went to the dairy to milk some goats... it was really an amazing experience... learning about the whole process... like cleaning, feeding, milking, bottling and all... and we did some gardening for the entire day... and for lunch, we met all the volunteers and the admin staffs there... really fun... for dinner, we had Jess... the chef cooking us really good food... the lasagna was awesome... and the salad... (the salad on the entire trip was soooooooo goooooooood because the vegetables were harvested fresh from the garden... and were organic... where the carrots were so sweet and other vegetables were sooooo fresh...)
(missing Beth, under the weather, and Jenn, on the phone, and me behind the camera...)

we played board games and met all the other interns (David, Lenna, Allan, and Meredith) later that night...

this is where i sleep...

the next day... 28 Feb (Tuesday)... i went helping to milk the goat again... then, it was rather early when i'm done with that... and had breakfast... and then was reading on the swing, under the tree and i got pooped on by a bird... how lucky i was... striking the lottery...
later in the day... i went to the dumpsite to get rid of a hell lot of rubbish which we loaded the truck yesterday... Wes, Aaron and I... dumped a lot of about 700 pounds of rubbish...

in the afternoon, we did more gardening...

and for dinner, we had more pasta and stuffs...and for the record, V is for me (Voon) and S is for someone else... (Sandra, Sarah, or Steph)... but V S is my initial... Voon Seng... what a coincident...

another beautiful sight of sunset...
and the laziest cat in the world... it's sooooo lazy that u have to see it to believe it... really...

the next day... 1 March (Wednesday)... i really can't believe that it's already March... dang...
i didn't take any photos that day... in the morning, i went milking again... i ended up bottle feeding them because they were others milking there, and crowding the room will kinda affect the goats' sanity... :)

so, in the morning, i went to the Pecan Orchard... and there, i handled a chainsaw... how cool is that...!!! crazy!!!..... i got bitten by quite a number of fireants... (i counted 12 bite marks...) well... because when i felt the first bite, i need to stop the chainsaw, take of my goggle, and only i can start killing the ants...not funny... and i'm a scratcher... so, go figure...

in the afternoon, i was repairing a couple of bicycles... mostly, repairing the punctured tubes and then, oil some really rustic chains... and trying to put the 'crusted' chain back into flexible one.... and again, the magical WD40 (R) saves the day....

at night... we watched a documentary that totally changed my world... the Invisible Children:Rough Cut... the pictures are really gory and the truth is painful... it's rather hard to see why such inhumane thing is happening now and for so long... and yet it's ignored and remain unknown... damn... what's wrong with the world...

the next day... March 2 (Thursday)...
woke up early again, did the usual, bottle fed rabbit, and what not... we did the road(where because of erosion, the road needs some repair... and we removed the excess dirts and laid it at some lower ground (some holes and all) elsewhere... it was really tiring, to rake a truckload of dirt to flatten the dirt and even the ground...

in the afternoon... we had a simulation of living on the other side of the world... where we divided into 2 groups... a group of Haitians, and another group of Guatamelans... basically, it's more like Meat-eater vs Vegetarian... where Meat-eaters are Guatamelans...(that's Sandra, Sarah and Steph and I)... to collect water, we need to walk more than a quarter mile uphill ... to make a fire, we need to collect branches from another quarter mile away... we also collected some eggs... and we were supposed to kill a guinea fowl for meat... but because of insufficient time, we didn't do it.. (i was prepared to be the one to kill that bird... but well, too bad... it didn't happen...) it's a lot of mental preparation to set up for it... and not being able to do it was a really huge disappointment...

we had access to the garden too... where we harvested some carrots, cabbage and some herbs...
we were given some black beans and some rice too... and salt and pepper... and some plastic bowls and cups...

while the Haitians were only given black beans and rice... and they had no access to the garden, and no eggs and no meat... and not even salt and pepper... what do they have... 2 pots and rice and black beans...

so, our recipe was, cooking the black bean with rice... and stir fry vegetables... and scrambled eggs... and wrapped it with lettuce... it was really good...

the only problem with the cooking was really keeping the fire going... the fire... oh my gosh... it's not easy to keep a fire going even given matches to start the fire... but, once it got going... it's sooooo hot... and the smoke really choked us and attacked our eyes... and i was the one doing the 'man' job... of keeping the fire burning...

it was an amazing activity... and we learned a lot and understood how it was like to be poor... (not really, but at least, to a certain extent)...

at night... we headed out.... after a fruit salad... it was really good... we headed out to downtown Waco for a concert... an Africa Benefit Concert... A local night for a global cause.... featuring Invisible Children, Stories from the Frontier, Adeline, and Mystery Lectric... it was really good show.... but we left after 2 bands because some of us couldn't really handle another full viewing of the documentary again...

that night... before we left for the Concert... we had an activity, where one writes about what he/she thinks about another person... everybody writes about everybody... it's called Warm Fuzzy...

here's my sheet: (although the writers should be remained anonymous, i could easily figured out who's who...)

Voon:
-I will remember the hilarious ways you surprise me with your comments! And your amazing ability/willingness to eat/try anything :)
-Let's hang out after ASB "Don't you wish your boyfriend were hot like Voon" "Switch"
-Voon rocks my world and can do anything... which is cool
-I like the way you said how you like to milk the goats
-Voon- I'm glad you got up early to milk because otherwise, I never would. Your sense of humor is subtle yet hilarious. Math and Econs!
- Very funny and east to talk to - I feel like you have a secret personality (in a goodway)
that crazy look you get in your eyes I will never forget.... Milk that cow! MILK IT!
- In the beginning, the goats didn't want you, now you hotter... goats all on you! Don't we wush our boyfriends were hot like Voon?
-Voon you crack me up. Crazy kid. I really like how you wear bright colors, you swing a pick axe like it's nobody's business, you are very willing to try new stuff & are a hardworker... "Don't you wish your boyfriend was hot like Voon" Yeaman

thanks guys... you guys are amazing...
after the concert... we got back to some amazing brownies... (Sarah made them)it was 'poisoned'.... with Cayenne Pepper... for those who don't like their brownies spicy... too bad... for me, it was actually pretty good... but one thing is, the Cayenne pepper looks a lot like Cocoa powder... so, it's really deceiving... :)

and even later that night.... Aaron made us some really good Mexican Hot Chocolate.... where u boil milk in a pan and throw 2 oz of chocolate into it, for every 8 oz of milk... it's crazy lot of choc... (i had more chocolate on this trip than 3 months consumption elsewhere...)

last day.... March 3 (Friday)... it was rather sad to wake up this morning, realizing that it's the last day of the trip... and the director, Neil, decided to milk the goat instead... so, Aaron and Sarah helped him out, while Jess, Steph and I bottle-fed those kids...(less than a month old)
Neil brushing down the goat...goats getting ready to be milked....Aaron milking a goat...the energetic kids...goats... more goats....drink it up... Lucky(with the black collar, on the right) and Jinx
Jinx...more of Jinx...they are playful bunch of kids...

and after we were done feeding those kids... we walked around taking pictures... really started to feel missing this place...
the donkey and the dry goats.... the donkey protects the goats from Coyote and wolves...
some babies rabbit... rabbits for their shit... composting and all and the end product... is really good fertilizer...
Composting toilet... where it saves tonnes of water every year... and all you need is some sawdust to cover it so that it won't smell (that bad)... and that's about it...

that morning... after breakfast... we cleaned up our dorm and all... and later, i went to the garden to help out some transplanting... where i got bitten some fireants again....this time, on my fingers... 3 bites... damn... later, we had lunch with everybody... and we had a discussion and evaluation
after lunch... we started packing and all...
this is the bone i found from the Pecan Orchard.....
World Hunger Relief Farm... i will miss you...
my jeans after 4 days of farm work... !!!! Laundry time!!!

the drive back to Ann Arbor from Texas was not easy... with all the memories and feelings, and complications of spring break ending and school starting... damn... it's really complicated... but we still had fun... although it's not fun sitting in the car for more than 30 hours in 2 days...

we got back to Ann Arbor at about 2am (Sunday, March 5).... i reached my dorm at about 2.30am...

overall, i think the trip had really changed my life... my view of life... and also probably many other things.... amazing... Alternative Spring Break... Amazing Spring Break...

i will post some thoughts and feelings next time...
