It's been a month...

It's been a month since I started my internship. It's all well. (such a diplomatic answer)But really, it's been great. (even more diplomatic.) :)

But whatever. So, today, most of my colleagues, and all the managers are away. They are on a trip to the east coast, so, I'll be not under much supervision. As if I need much of it.*evil grin - wag tail*

So, I'll do things at my own pace, and don't have to wait for the normal line process, very much like a production line, where I'm almost always the last to add something onto another thing.

That's all for now. Have fun, and take care.

ps: no football yesterday and tonight = time to catch up with some sleep. Of course, after an hour of sudoku on websudoku.com

Best time for easy - 3:15. need to make a sub 3 pretty soon, and then, I shall proceed to medium.

ciao!

Of a week...

So, last week was not too bad, can't believe that i'm saying this on a Monday morning. But, well, I'm a too positive to dwindle on it. But, thinking back, it wasn't too bad. How can anything be too bad, where they are so many people who were much more unlucky and what not?

Last weekend was actually pretty good. It started off on Friday, which I got home at about 9pm. Which was pretty early, and then, went out to yamcha with my friends, Jian Wey, Min Han, Xin Yu, Chung Yew, EuFoong, Wei Shen, Jia Mean, and I think that's everybody. It was a pretty good night, and it ended up at Starbucks (R) opposite of Taylor college, and after we ran out of topics to talk about, we took the doomed topic of puzzles, or IQ questions. which well, 'ruined' the night.

let me ruin yours too! Promise there's no googling: (i'm still thinking about it, and don't ruin it for me by posting ur answer in the comments or chatterbox.)

There are 12 identical looking balls, with 1 odd one, which may be lighter or heavier, by using a tipping scale, for 3 times only, identify the odd ball (literally).

Have fun!!!

So, on I slept on that question. Woke up the next morning at 8.25am for my 8.30am badminton appointment! Played for 2 hours, and then went breakfast, had curry noodles and Nasi Lemak(way to put back some carbs after a 'workout'). So, was rather tired when I got home, but didn't want to 'waste' my weekend on sleeping. Instead, I surfed the net a little, and in the afternoon, went to the dentist to have my long-overdue checkup. And well, my one of my wisdom teeth, the one in the lower right section, (my right) has a small decay, and after some drilling, it was filled with some cement, and well, i was exhausted(just my mouth actually) by all the stretching. And it cost me a fortune. Well well. No wonder so many of my friends are going into Medicine and Dentistry(i guess :))

So, in the later afternoon, went online again, to chat with some of my buddies back in the states. It's good to catch up with them after so long of not seeing (reads drinking with) them.

It was all good, and did nothing much at night. Other than my usual killing AI stunt in DoTA, and watching a match of football.

Sunday, woke up this morning 5 minutes before my appointment with my friends again, bowling this time, rushed to change and all, and went to Sunway Pyramid for the bowling. The alleys were packed with some companies' competition. So, we went hanging out near the skating rink, because there was a competition going on. Well, let's say the skaters were all too green, and the level of the skating in Malaysia was pretty low. Sorry guys, really, with ESPN showing those top of the world skaters every now and then, my expectation was slightly higher. I know it's not easy, having falled on my ass so many times, before I can skate around, but well, it's a competition, and skating is a competitive sporting event.

After about an hour of waiting, we went back to the alley, and got a lane, and bowled right away. Did just OK, but average 110 a game. Damn, I need to get back my touch, and 'blaze' the lane with 150 average again. After 3 games, we decided to call it a day, (I had to attend a meeting at 2pm, and it was about 1pm) and I needed to go home for lunch, as I promised my mom.

So, got home 5 past one, and that's about it. The weather was insanely hot, went for the meeting, and met some new people. And well, I was amazed by the scale of the education fair my friends and all are planning. It will be great. To learn more about the 1st ever, and the biggest American Universities Education Fair, Experiences KL 2006, click here.

I'll be one of the exhibitor there, representing the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Got home at about 4pm. Took a nap as the weather was really killing me. Waited for my bros to get back from wherever there were, and then, went jogging with them in the evening. It was a good run, sweated quite a bit, which I desperately needed to, as I'd been missing my runs for far too long. At night, another football match, and I called it a night.

That pretty much sums up my weekend, not an extraordinary one, but definitely one of the more productive and better ones.

Of pining for a holiday...

damn, I need holiday, badly. Really! I'm pretty tired right now, and I don't think that truly enjoying this internship. I mean I like it, but not enjoying it. Spot the difference? Nevermind.

So, I was reading about so many trips that my friends went. One to Germany, another to Oz, another to China, and another to who-knows-where? I want to go on a holiday too. Not too long, just a lazy 3-day period will do.

What I have in mind is to some quiet beach resort, get some sunshine, some sea breeze, some cold beer and other better value added things that comes together with a beach (go figure).

Currently, I'm out of my game. My weekends are normally spent this way: Catch up with friends for 1 night, then, catch up with my sleep. That's it. See?

So, I WANT A HOLIDAY!

alright, enough of bitching, and thank goodness it's Friday.

have a great weekend! Go UKRAINE! :)

Time flies...

Time flies... really... you don't think so, try thinking back what did u do over the past week... yeap, just the last 7 days... what did u really do that change the world... (ok, probably that's too ambitious), how about change your life...(still, a bit too serious)... how about what did you really do that you are proud of, your little achievement that deserves a little pat on your back... still no??
there you go... time really flies... so, before u know it, before you recognize what you really do worth of ur time, and before you can think about it, it's over... it's gone...

so, after reading that, aren't you worried about life? life's short, so... what did you do last week again???ok... enough of that...

so, what i did last week, is well... getting me worried... my internship is well, busy, and not really hard, but just say tedious will be the most suitable word... sometimes, i do think that the marginal cost of some work is really worth the effort... can't give out more about that... i'm just worried that that's the standard of every single job... if that's the case, that's really gonna 'grind my gear'... hell hell... ooops... i mean well well... watever... 2 more of college to go, worry later...

so, to make things short, on weekdays, i'm practically working + travelling (14hours), dota(2 hours), world cup(2 hours), sleep(5 hours), and misc(1 hour)... so, that's kinda simple to sum up my work days...

so, last friday, because of needing to rush a presentation slides, i stayed back til 10pm at the office... yup, i was there from 8am to 10pm... (but had a long lunch break though, but the food was bad... really bad... but, it was free, so, not so much complaints...) so, i got back home at 11pm, (out since 6.45am), and, after i took a few bites(literally), i changed into my sport attire, and grabbed my badminton racket, and my fren was already waiting for me outside my house... played with Weeli, Min Han, Nic, Zhi Yik and Xin Yu til 1.15am... when to Silva for supper, and voila... back home at 2.30am... took a shower, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

woke up the next morning, early, to accompany my bro to go take his new car... a Honda City... rather nice... let me get a pic of it...

and it was quite a long wait... needed to wait for it to be polished and waxed.. and whatnot.. well... it's rather powerful, and hell yeah, i'll have a higher chances of driving a car now, since there's 4 cars, and 5 of us in the family... and being the youngest definitely doesn't help...
look at the reflection of the blue sky from the well-polished bonnet...

did nothing much for the rest of the day, other than catching up with my sleep... you need to repay those debts...

Sunday... woke up rather late, went down to Kajang to have lunch with my uncles and aunt and cousins... and it was a nice catch-up kinda thing... practically spent the entire afternoon there... at night, nothing much either...

well well... there you have it, my pretty much you-name-it week....

oh yar, need to introduce a new member to my family... yet to name it, suggestions are most welcomed...
fyi, it's a he...

World Cup is on... very much on...

hey all, so World Cup fever is burning, is soo hot... and it really is...

so, last Friday, after reaching home from work at about 9.15pm...(yup, this is the kinda normal day for me), and after having dinner, i flicked to the Channel 83 for the world cup opening ceremony... nice... pretty awesome performances... dances and the costumes... (not that i'm a huge costume or dance person, but, it's rather unique... especially the part where many girls in elaborated costume were hung high up...

and all is well, and then, i went up to my room, switched on desktop, and turned off the light, and i fell asleep...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....woke up at 3am in the morning, just in time for the 2nd match... but heck it, i was just too tired and the world cup fever apparently wasn't hot enough for me... :) so... good luck to both teams, and good night for me... :)

woke up the next morning... Saturday... and well, went karaoke with my frens (Zhi Hui, Chung Yew, Su Ying and Min Han...) at Red Box, Sunway Pyramid... not too bad, but i lost my voice after the singing session... went lepak-ing around after that, and then, went home...

at night, went out to Asia Cafe to meet up with some friends (Rocky, See Jen, Juin Kei, Phuan Soon and MinHan) to watch the football match of England... the place was packed... and the game was sub-par... BORING!!!

got home after the match at about 11.30pm... played some DOTA while watching the 2nd match... nothing much...

went to bed at about 2am... woke up the next morning, felt like shit... had a running nose, and a dry throat... initially, plan to go to the curve for a movie - The Cars, but then, i wasn't feel sneezing throughout the movie, and passing on germs (how thoughtful, and civic conscious I am... pats my back)... and hence, screwed the plan... only spent my Sunday afternoon, playing DoTA, killing AI, and then, making 'Wanton' :-)...

had Bak Kut Teh dinner with family at home, nice... after that, watched the match of the Netherlands playing against Serbia Montenegro... not too bad a match... but could have been better with more goals... it was better than the England match though...

after popping pills - Actifed (R) for my running nose, went to bed rather early, then, woke up this morning alright... but my throat is still kinda dry... another Monday... 5 more days to weekend... that's all for now... ciao...

Of Beating...

oops... the title is kinda suggestive... no?... try reading it backwards... with some slight emphasis on the Of..... get it yet??

nvm... this is what you get for mixing too much with colleagues that like to joke... anyway, how's life for everybody??

i was asked a couple of questions, by my colleagues and all, the most vital 2 being :
1) why do i wanna intern with Accenture?
2) why work now when it's ur holiday?

Good questions...(this is what an American prof will answer you when he needs to think on the question, or when he don't know the answer the question... :) )

anyway, they thought that this is my very last resort for interning, but actually, yes and no... yes because I was kinda discouraged after going through so many 1st round interviews, (6 if i remember correctly), and not getting through to the 2nd interview... (why so? ... i'd pondered on it... and the answer is.... not to be mentioned here...), so, my application kinda stopped on Accenture KL... No because this is my first and only choice of place to intern with in Malaysia...

and regarding the 2nd question... well, it's my holiday, and I want my holiday, but why the heck am I working... (pretty long hours, and commuting 2-3 hours a day in total)... well, i would say that first of all, i'm a workaholic... and a party animal (but not doing so yet)... so, i couldn't take too long a holiday (i've to take any so far)... thinking about holiday, i only have about 1 week to really holiday before I head back to the States... so, any suggestions?? preferably some duty free place so that I can get my stamina back up to par so that I won't be killed every time once the school starts (reads parties)... so, i'm not really answering my 2nd question yet... so, it's all about packing up ur resume? true... but i value the experience even more... and hence Accenture... (reads long hours... but maximum exposure... maximum learning curve...)

Recently, I read two articles about how unpaid internship is really killing the economy... think about it, a bunch of semi-trained, or even trained and skilled workforce working for free... sounds like a great deal to the companies... but, to think more about it, actually, this is creating a negative effect on the economy at least from 2 ways... firstly, being the increase of unemployment rate, and probably the lower of wage, at least the real wage... secondly, being the creation of a greater gap between the rich and the poor... think about it, for those who are capable of taking up an unpaid internship in a city, they must come from a pretty well-off (or at least above average) family... going into more details will kinda make this post an econ paper... so, i'll spare you guys... :)

so... why the title?? i'm not sick to the point that writing that, for the sake of being sick... :)
this week, i've been getting to the office earlier and earlier... for the sole reason of beating the crowd... first, beating the crowd to the train, then, to another train, and then, to the shuttle van to the office... so, nowadays, i often reached the office at 8am... or slightly before 8... well well, and i often leave the office at about 8pm... woah... who in the sane mind spend 12 hours at the office... not so sure... but hey now, u are making an assumption that i'm sane in the first place... i'm a workaholic..and proud to be one... :)

so, u have it... i'm beating off...oops... i mean i'm of beating the crowd... :)
