Orion in the sky....
Growing up, I was fascinated by astronomy. Spaceships, outerspace, the Solar system... (Not Sci-Fi though, so, not really Trekkie or Star Wars fan...) I still remember those few instances where I was stargazing by the beach (those nights on Pulau Langkawi, Pulau Redang...) where I could see thousand of Stars, and even vaguely outlined the Milky Way when I was spending a night camping in Waco, Texas during my Alternative Spring Break trip. It was just mind boggling to imagine how big the Universe is.
Enough of an opening. So, for no apparent reason, I just love the constellation of Orion. I think I first saw it in its majestic entirety during my Freshman winter (Guess light and air pollution in Subang is really bad... and well, cloudy skies back home). My best guess is sometime in October of 2004. I just like the shape of it, how you can picture it, and how the stars form its belt, and the dagger and all that.
Early this week, when walking out from the gym after work, it was dark, and I noticed the constellation of Orion again. Well, it's rather hard to miss if you are under the Northern Hemisphere winter night sky. So, the plain sight of it brought back all those memories while I was in Ann Arbor. It's funny how things like this trigger my mind to think back all those moments.
Oh well. Better cherish this winter constellation before Spring comes...
